Airil Rizman was the Malaysian national amateur champion in 1998, 1999 and 2001 and a team gold medalist at the 2001 Southeast Asian Games. He has won several titles on the Malaysian PGA Tour, where he topped the order of merit in 2005.

Airil’s best finish in 2008 on the Asian Tour was a tied-13th performance at the Philippine Open. He claimed a career breakthrough victory at the Pakistan Open in 2007, holding off Scott Hend and Simon Hurd in the final round at the Karachi Golf Club.

His win in Pakistan made him the second Malaysian after Danny Chia to win on the Asian Tour. Airil credited a new practice regime based on a programme used in the Australian Institute of Sports for helping him to victory.
