20 spots up for grabs at the Iskandar Johor Open Qualifier Tournament
An opportunity not to be missed for professional and amateurs golfers vying for a spot in the 2nd largest golf tournament in Malaysia
JOHOR BAHRU (Friday, Aug 22, 2008): The second largest golf tournament in Malaysia, the Iskandar Johor Open (IJO) will be played from Oct 30 to Nov 2 at the Royal Johor Golf and Country Club (RJCC) in Johor Bahru.
Sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Malaysia Golf Association, Iskandar Johor Open 2008 is expected to attract a high quality playing field from the Asian Tour which will make up majority of the 156 golfers expected to compete.
As part of Malaysia Golf Association’s drive to promote golf in the country, a Qualifier tournament will be held at Royal Johor Country Club on August 29, 2008. This Qualifier is open to all male Malaysians or Malaysian passport holders, Professional golfers and amateurs with an official golf handicap of 2.
The Qualifying round will be played over 18 holes at RJCC with the top 20 players who return with the lowest gross score be invited to play in the Iskandar Johor Open under Host Country Invite.
In the event of a tie for the last placing in the Iskandar Johor Open’s Qualifying Round, the tie shall be settled by a sudden-death play off. In the event that a play off is not possible or impractical for a play off, the RJCC countback system shall apply.
The qualifier will run in accordance with the Rules of Golf as specified by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and any additional local rules implemented by the Royal Johor Country Club.
Entry fee for the qualifying session is RM150, which includes meals and caddy fees. Entry form is available from Royal Johor Country Club. Closing date for entry is on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 6pm.
Iskandar Malaysia is the title sponsor of the Iskandar Johor Open, which is part of the Asian Tour, and is supported by the Johor State Government.

Registration Fee: RM 150.00 nett inclusive of meals and caddie fees (Payable by CASH only)
2. PRACTICE ROUND
There will not be any practise rounds prior to the event. Players however are encouraged to approach the club should they wish to practise (Standard Green fees will apply).
3. ELIGIBILITY
a) All male Malaysians and Malaysian Passport holders
b) All amateur golfers with a maximum Handicap Index of 2.0
c) All professional golfers
4. ENTRY DEADLINE
The closing date for entry is on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 6pm.
